If you have become injured or ill and are not able to work, it is a good time to consider applying for your Long Term Disability benefits. The time frame for applying for Long Term Disability benefits depends on your policy. Most Long Term Disability policies have a waiting period. The waiting periods vary by policy but in most circumstances a policy holder must first apply for and receive Short Term Disability benefits for some period of time prior to being eligible for Long Term Disability benefits.
